iTeleport: VNC & RDP App Reviews

Not too bad, missing some features

Over all the app is good. It looks great and seems very smooth. A great attempt. There are some limitations and annoyances that will hopefully be addressed soon. 1. It does not support clipboard copying either from or to the vnc client which is a feature supported by most of the other major vnc clients out there. It makes copying URLS and directory locations from local machine to vnc client extreemly difficult. 2. The terminal selecton screen I find to be a little unwieldy if you have more then four terminals you connect to. It certainly displays the last four, which is fine, but the options for scrolling to the rest of the terminals I found a bit difficult without using the scrollbar. 3. Its missing a quick-connect option to connect to a vnc terminal once without adding it to the available server UI None of these are deal-breakers, just minor annoyances. And as the support team has been very helpful Im hoping these issues will be cleared up soon. This product migrated from the iPhone/iPad and most of these issues can be attributed to differences between the mobile venue and the desktop. Still, this is a desktop client. It should act like one.

Does not support multiple monitors

I paid $9.99 for this app because it says it supports multiple monitors. It does not.

Dont quite see the point...

Concerns were sent months ago to their organization, in which a ticket was created and then markes as solved with no action whatsoever. ----- Hi, and thanks for the app. I just bought it and have some suggestions. Different views: Not having a list view or something is pretty awful, unfortunately. I have over a hundred computers at client sites that operate on VNC that Id love to add. Different views would be great so I dont just have a single view that forces me to scroll forever to find my machine. Folders for client sites: That would be nice. Group is up by folders for different sites, departments, etc. Clone option: I have many clients that have close workstation naming conventions (where commonly only the last 3 characters of the name change, like "nbl-adm-win-001", then 002, 003, etc. A clone option would save me tons of typing time to get machines in here. Dropbox support, maybe? Ok - so I own both applications. The Gmail account is all well and good for managing MY OWN computers, but when I have 300+ VNCd machines at a single site that maybe I want to control with my phone…how can I do that without manually adding all of them? That would be pretty awful and I sure dont want to associate all of them with my Gmail account. ----- So the 3 star grade is for the app itself. It does what it advertises for the most-part but I dont see the conveniences with using it like I had hoped. Taking 2 stars away because of the view options that are non-existent…scroll to the right to find clients, even after using the search field? Not a fan of that at all. The interface is way too cluttered after adding clients, and its not convenient to add clients to the app to begin with. Nor is it easy to modify clients (in mass) if you were to say…change the VNC password on 100 machines and then needed to reconnect to them. Maybe Im comparing it too much to Apples Remote Desktop, which I also own. Ill admit to that - though I will also say that I dont find the app more than just being "ok".

Crashes

Wasnt able to use this application to connect to remote rdp server. It will crash on connect. VNC works so far. Thats why youre getting extra star to my 1-star review.

Definetely requires GMAIL! 2 Stars for effort and the work it probably took, BUT..

It says it doesnt require a GMAIL account. Well that might be true if you know something about remote connections and if you are prabably thinking of using this app its because it seems easy and dont really know much. However, like me and I would think the others that actually are looking for an app that helps with this process, are not familiar with remote connections; thus you will be require to actually USE you GMAIL account with the free iTeleporterConnect software they provide at their website. This is necessary, as the support correspondant replied to me, in order to keep updating an IP that is not static and thus being able to connect your saved computer through iTeleport and some other settings. The app looks amazing, but sincerely, the fact that at the end of it I DO have to USE my GMAIL account (something I did NOT want to do) is disappointing. Especially since they state ir is "not requiered". They are right, its not, if you know how to use all the proper settings (address, port, protocol, security, encryption, SSH username/password, etc..). One more thing, their "manual" instructions and procedure for you to setup iTeleport without iTeleporterConnect guide you through steps on how to create a No-IP account somewhere and download their client (another thing I DONT want, are you kidding me, I bought an app that works not so that I could go and download other software). I tried to use it manually, but failed. I have no clue how to setup a connection with all those settings. I dont want to use the Gmail account so it has basically become useless. I emailed support, after they replied regarding not using the gmail and iTeleporterConnect, for additional help and instructions on how use the settings properly in order to connect but they NEVER replied. Really wish I could have made use of this app. As of now, it just sits there. If you dont mind using your Gmail, then youll probably love this app. It looks amazing, but I couldnt tell you since I have not been able to use it. Hope it saves others who dont know much about remote access connections and think they will get an easy-to-use, no Gmail, remote access app their money. UPDATE: STILL NOT ABLE TO CONNECT AFTER MONTHS! Im pretty avid with computers, and I have been reluctant in using my gmail credentials to use this app. HOWEVER, I have not been able to set-up connections without it so it has been USELESS! VERY SAD! I was hoping to use this app.

The best remote desktop access app Ive used

Ive tried many apps like this, and online services like Logmein. iTeleport is the most intuitive one Ive used. Support is also great - I had an issue getting connected initially, but iTeleport Support responded promptly and resolved the issue after a couple of email exchanges.

This Just Keeps Crashing!!!!

After Every logout from windows 8 machine the software always crashes!!!

Do Not UPGRADE!

I had essentially zero issues with the previous version. Now RDP is almost completely broken. Exactly what they said they fixed, is what they broke. The Windows key is consatnly firing and I can barely accomplish anything without closing the app and starting over. And remote paste? ...bupkis.

Just OK

My biggest complaints are that this application prevents the system from sleeping. pmset -g assertions reveals screensharingd which prevents the system from sleeping. Please add an option so allow sleep and reconnect upon resume. Also the list of systems is annoying because theyre big icons and I have to scroll left to right. At least allow the system list window to be resized so no scrolling is required. Also, it crashes when an RDP connected system reboots. That said, I like that its merged RDP and VNC unlike any other apps and that it provides SSH tunneling. It would be nice to see RDP folder, printer sharing and clipboard sharing. Has great potential.

Good cross-platform solution

I use this to control my Mac mini from my MacBook Pro and my iPad. Ive even used a VNC client over SSH to connect from a Windows machine. Its reasonably fast, and allows me to do what I need to do when away from my computer.

DO NOT BUY, new features are never added

This expensive app is well made, however the developers do not add new features to keep up with other apps, apparently because they dont get money from it. Case in point, an ugly control bar that took up screen space in the iPad version, effectively meaning you could not view the entire Mac screen on your device. All they needed way a way to hide that bar, but they didnt bother making a way to do that. I much prefer PocketCloud and have switched.

MUST HAVE!!!!

UPDATE: When I have problems, the support team responds right away and even remotely log into my computer to fix issues. I have this app on both my iPhone and iPad and have been waiting for the mac version and the developer has not ceased to amaze me. This app is so intuitive and easy to use. I work in sales and because of this app, Im able to be away from my office and still keep on top on all my tasks by remotely accessing my work PC. The amazing part is that Im able to run and use certain PC software like CRM and Quickbooks seemlessly like Im physically at my office. Now with the MAC version, it is so much easier to use!!!!This app is by far worth every single penny. I highly recommend it!

Super support for an amazing app!!!

I cannot give enough stars to this app, Arsalan, and the team at iTeleport. They were quick to respond, perfect in communicating details and troubleshooting suggestions, and when none of that worked they scheduled a time to remotely help me. What more could I ask out of a product? Things are back in order and I am back to being productive wherever my computer may be. This app is a must have for those working remotely or simply looking to carry less equipment. I am more than impressed and will continue to recommend iTeleport, but also the team developing and supporting it, to anyone I talk with.

stopped working

Great app, but not working anymore. Please fix this ASAP, as we need a reliable app. Computers keep going offline and bouncing. FIX IT! And I will give 5 stars

Google changes…Iteleport responds. Wonderful product, wonderful support.

Last Thursday, something happened to make it impossible for my iTeleport Mac to connect via Google (one of its connectivity options). I contacted the support team, and they quickly replied that they knew of the problem (a change in Google services) and they were working on figuring out what had happened. I contacted them a couple of times after for progress reports — this product is THAT good and valuable for me — and they always responded quickly with what they were doing, even providing a short-term workaround that had worked for some (not me, unfortunately). On Monday morning when I asked, they said a new version should be in the App Store that day. Sure enough, late afternoon, my Mac had updated with the new version; later, my iPad and iPhone did the same. And it is all good now. I use iTeleport to connect my Mac (and iOS devices) to my work PC so I can work on my Mac all the time. It is the only product of this type that manages to connect out of the box (via Google). I cannot recommend this product, and their people, highly enough.

Excellent App

iTeleport: The universal tool i use to connect to both Mac and Win machines around the country, from any of the following I may have at hand: Mac client, iphone or iPad. The software always works, it has been rock solid for me regardless of the device. I have been a user since iTeleport’s early days. I like using the iTeleport Connect client on the target computers, it enables a secure, always on connection to the client software.

Severely disappointed.

It worked perfectly until this google authentication issue. Now I cant access my PC or Mac and Im out money from buying both the desktop and iOS versions. Complete waste of money, avoid.

Nice app - but not professional grade

I have used iTeleport on my iPad for a while now. I was looking for an OSx RDP client with similar capabilities to Windows RDP as I maintain both on-site and off-site servers so I purchased this. This is a decent app if all you need to do is “operate" the remote machine, but it is not for network professionals who might actually need to “fix” a machine. We absolutely have to have the capability of transfering files easily between machines. This product does not have it. I would have otherwise given it 5 stars, but the lack of basic copy/paste functionality means you will be wasting your money here if you think you may ever need those capabilities.

Some bugs in this one

When connecting to an OSX host from either the OSX or IOS client some clicks aren’t registered. I have noticed it mostly when using parallels 8 on the host (windows 7) running Quicken 2013. Strangely some items can be clicked and some can’t. The “one step update” button and the account list down the left side cannot be clicked. It worked reliably before the latest update. This is a reproducable issue and I have contacted support about it. Just wanted to make everyone aware that they may want to wait for this app to be updated beyond 6.1.8 if they need it to work 100%. 7/16/14 **UPDATE** My issue was quickly resolved by support. The following oultion was provided that completely resolvd my issue. "Can you please try switching off “Mac Continuous Updates” from iTeleport for iOS (tap on information disclosure button next to server name, Advanced -> Encodings). Please try this with the Mac app as well when connecting to other OS X based systems. On iTeleport for Mac, select the remote system in question, click on the “Settings icon” (bottom right of the window), select “Edit”, and then the “Encodings” tab. Please note that the name of the encoding is “Continuous Updates” on the Mac app."

Sloooooow performance

I love iTeleport especially the one on iPhone/iPad. It is just great. However, Mac version is just a shame. Huge performance issue and Im glad we have speedy OS X built-in Screen Sharing or iMessage (Google Talk needed) Screen Share. Please, fix/improve the performance. All my Macs are running latest OS X.
